Arenal Volcano
A hike to the volcano base
VOLCANOES
Nestled in the northern region of Costa Rica, Ecologic Park Volcan Arenal is a breathtakingly beautiful natural paradise that boasts an array of incredible sights and experiences for nature enthusiasts and adventure seekers alike.
Perhaps the most notable feature of the park is the imposing Arenal Volcano, which stands at over 5,000 feet tall and towers over the surrounding landscape. While the volcano is still considered active, it hasn't erupted since 2010, allowing visitors to safely explore the area and take in the stunning views.
One of the best ways to experience the park's natural beauty is by taking a hike on one of the many trails that wind through the area. Whether you're looking for a challenging trek or a leisurely stroll, there are plenty of options to choose from. Along the way, you'll have the opportunity to observe a diverse array of plant and animal life, including monkeys, sloths, toucans, and more.
The park also has a camping site next to a lake, where you can enjoy lake activities or perhaps prepare a nice barbecue on one of the many available barbecue spots, while enjoying the view of the volcano in the background.
There is a parking place next to the entrance of the park and another one at the camping site itself. There are several parks to visit the Arenal volcano but this one will take you the closest to the volcano base where you can see the spewed out rocks along some stunning panoramas, including lake Arenal, lake Cote and Nuevo Arenal itself.(Click the picture to see our video of the Arenal volcano and how to get to the park)
